Why TSAugust? |
|
||||||
|
TSAugust is an acronym for "The Second of August".
August
2nd, 1776 was the day most delegates signed the Declaration of
Independence. These were patriots who believed in the country they were about to establish.
Many
of the delegates were farmers or landowners who viewed nature as
a resource to be used and protected. Many were business people
who understood the importance of commerce and economic
development.
They
were students of ancient and modern history: They risked their
lives to establish a government based on historical experiences,
so that citizens would be free and ruled by laws that protected
them from an over zealous government, from their fellow citizens
and from foreign threats. We have adopted TSAugust for our name so as to capture the ideas of patriotism, rights and responsibilities inherent in the work of our founding fathers: These are the principles that will guide our efforts |
Mission The mission of TSAugust is to bring factual information about energy and environmental issues to Americans so as to ensure increasingly high living standards and the elimination of poverty wherever it exists. Pledge It is our intention that all of the information on this web site will be factually correct. Any commentary will be clearly marked as such and will be based on facts. |

Donn
D. Dears is a retired GE Company senior executive and has
extensive management, marketing, manufacturing and strategic planning
experience, including domestic and international operations. He has been a
speaker at national and local meetings.
Brief overview of Donn Dears experience with energy issues. Donn Dears began his career at General Electric testing large steam turbines and generators used by utilities to generate electricity; followed next, by manufacturing and marketing assignments at the Transformer Division. He next led an organization of a few thousand people servicing these and other GE products in the United States. He then established facilities around the world to service power generation and transmission equipment. At nearly every step, Donn was involved with the work done at customer locations; at steel mills, electric utilities, refineries, oil drilling and production facilities and open pit and underground mining operations. At every opportunity, he learned of the needs of these industries. Donn has toured Saudi Arabia including a close-up inspection of the eastern province with its oil producing and shipping facilities. He has investigated many of the other oil producing countries in the Mid East and Northern Europe, as well as examining iron-ore mining locations and major shipping centers in Europe and Asia. All told, Donn has visited over 50 countries and has knowledge of their need for the technologies that can improve their well being and their use of equipment manufactured in the United States. Following his retirement as a senior GE Company executive, he continued to study and write about energy issues. He currently is president of TSAugust, a 501 (C) 3 think tank comprised entirely of volunteers. He writes for www.tsaugust.org and has written two books as well as various papers and articles. He also speaks about energy issues, specifically about Cap & Trade.
Donn graduated from the
U.S. Merchant Marine Academy with a BS degree (with honors) majoring in
engineering
